Building components

Coal-derived components for the whole building.

Roof tiles, facade panels and a new aggregate technology, all built on X-MAT®.

Roof Tiles

“Villa” tiles testing

  • Passed ANSI FM 4473 Class 4 Hail Impact Resistance Standards
  • Far exceeded Grade 1 Performance for Water Absorption and Saturation Coefficient according to ASTM C67 Standards
  • Far exceeded Type I Wet/Dry Flexural Strength Testing according to ASTM C67/C1167 Standards

Facades / Panels

X-PANEL™

X-PANEL™ will be designed with an embedded fastening system for a seamless appearance.

X-MATRIX

The technology

New technology that can replace the traditional sand and rock aggregate used in concrete with ceramic coated coal particles. This novel material has the potential to reshape the concrete industry and impact building design, civil and structural engineering while also sequestering vast volumes of CO2 and repurposing billions of tons of coal.

Exceptional properties

Compressive strength
6,000–7,500 psi2× or more that of concrete
Flexural strength
1,500–2,000 psi2–3× that of concrete
Low cost
Projected cost is between standard concrete and ultra-high performance concrete, price competitive with pre-cast
X-MATRIX process: raw coal plus proprietary resin is mixed, fired and milled into X-MATRIX particles, which go into architectural panels, mortar, blocks and roof tiles
The X-MATRIX process, from raw coal to finished components.
